Dance Styles Offered at SAA

India is an ancient country, rich with history, art, music, and of course, dance. While there are hundreds of different dance styles originating in India, there are 9 Indian Classical Dance forms as recognized by the Indian Ministry of Culture: Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Kathakali, Manipuri, Mohiniattam, Odissi, Sattriya, and Chhau. Here at Savithri Arts Academy, we aim to pass on the traditions of our Indian heritage to the younger generations in the United States. We offer extensive and comprehensive lessons in Bharatha Natyam and Kuchipudi, and alongside that, students gain a proficent understanding of Carnatic Music. Students at SAA are also made familiar with the other forms of Classical dances, its history and origins, as well as many folk dances of India.
